I know I should be grateful for the roof over my head; the food on my table; that I have money to buy food for my table; for Netflix; for the good health of my husband, children, grandchildren, and my mom; BUT I am literally in a downward spiral mentally. I am totally losing it. Everything annoys me ALL the time. Everything. Maybe I should do yoga, but I don't want to. Maybe, I should go for a walk, but I don't want to. Maybe I should drink, but I don't want to.
What I want to do is GO OUT! I mean REALLY go out! To a show, to a bar, to the gym, to a restaurant, to a movie, to a ball game, to lunch with a friend, to a park, to a 7 Eleven with my grandsons for slurpees, to the mall, etc. etc. I want to hug and kiss my grandchildren. But, I can't. If I was Van Gogh, I probably would have cut off an ear by now. If I was Mike Tyson, I probably would've bitten off an ear by now. If I was Lorena Bobbitt, well you can finish that sentence. So my mind is inundated with all these crazed observations....
Are you ready?
If Covid 19 originated in the wet market of China and was transmitted from an animals to a human, THEN why are they saying on the latest news reports (last night) that the infected domestic cats and the Bronx zoo tigers in New York that have Covid 19, cannot spread the virus to humans? Viruses clearly move around between species. Why are they reporting that only humans can spread it to their pets, but not vice versa? This makes me nuts! Why doesn't someone explain this?
"I was never involved in a model at least this kind of model." Guess who said that? Yup - our President. The man who lacks empathy and competence and is a barely functional human and is throwing 2 hour MEGA rallies everyday. You can't open up the economy with DEAD people, NUM NUTS! Stop inciting governors to open up their states before the curve flattens.
Stop prescribing hydroxychloroquine-YOU ARE NOT A DOCTOR. YOU ARE NOT AN EPIDEMOLOGIST! YOU DON'T HAVE A F---ING CLUE. Please leave the medical questions to the scientists and doctors. Don't offer your opinion on this. And don't fire HHS Intelligence community Inspector General, Dr. Bright, because he disagrees with you unsubstantiated views on cures for the Coronavirus.
As far as the economy, why should anyone be listening to Donald Trump? This man's hotels and businesses have declared bankruptcy SIX times. Mitch McConnell encouraging bankruptcy instead of bailouts is totally irresponsible. Remember, McConnell wasn't in favor of compensation funds for 9/11 victims or Hurricane Sandy relief aid. Contrary to his belief, these are not blue state issues. And, to the wealthy population out there who support this orange man (Trump) and his ignorant majority leader, why do you care if they open the economy now or wait a bit longer until this virus flattens? Shouldn't we be more concerned with saving lives? You have enough money to sustain your way of living-it should not be as important to the millionaires as it is to the small businesses, first responders and health care workers who are trying to stay afloat, trying to pay their bills or to pay their employees and trying to feed their families? If you have so much money and care so much about the economy, why don't you figure out a way to support the businesses in your local community-how about some anonymous donations?
And, just for the record President Trump, the U.S. has not provided more testing than any other country. The U.S. has 327 million people. As of now, 1 in 273 people are being tested in the U.S.
In Italy, where they have 60 million people, 1 in 133 people are tested. The U.S. may have conducted the most tests, BUT NOT PER CAPITA. In South Korea with a population of 51.5 million people, they test 1 in every 119 people. In Germany with 82.8 million people, they test 1 in 90 people.
So stop the rant everyday about your amazing ventilators and your incredible testing. I can't take it!
Now let's get to the Ray Donovan of the Trump Administration. His FIXER! You guessed it-William Barr. He's the man who compared coronavirus shutdowns to house arrest. He incites Governors to liberate their states along with Trump. Barr has done serious damage to the law of our country.
And, why isn't anyone talking about the long awaited 3 year review led by the Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee that unanimously found that Russia did in fact interfere with elections? Shame on Trump for badmouthing/firing all the intelligence people working for the U.S.
Nursing Homes-where do I begin? I am totally freaked out. So far, there have been 7 deaths in my mom's assisted living facility. Presently another 5-7 people tested positive. She has been in isolation as long as I have. I worry every minute about her and that she is all alone. I often visit outside her window, fill her pillboxes in the parking lot like a drug dealer, and supply food each week so she has some treats every now and then. If I remove her, she cannot return until phase 3 is over. That could be June or July. I don't have a set up conducive to her staying in my home: 2 flights of stairs(she uses a walker), no walk in shower, and I don't use heat. Plus if I remove her, she must be quarantined for 14 days in a room in my home. So, it is with tremendous anxiety and guilt that I ask myself each day if I am doing right by her.
My hair is another issue (albeit a much less important one than the topics that preceded this rant). Tomorrow I go to the salon where they have premixed my hair color and have arranged an outside cash exchange for the color mixture. Then I go home and apply! Waalah-no roots!
A cousin of ours in Florida woke up today and was so excited to see that for the first time in weeks, the headline on the front page wasn't about Coronavirus. He was elated until he read the headline:
2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season Expected to be "above average". What the F--k?
So what do I do if I have a tooth ache, appendicitis, a large itchy raised bump on my neck (not a hickey), a finger that got caught in my shredder (true); what if my oven, refrigerator, or microwave breaks? Some of these things have occurred and some will in the future. I am sure of it! These are just a few more things that keep me reeling...and wide awake.
When can we see the dentist, the dermatologist-(fillers and botox are really taking a hit), the a/c servicing guy? I keep rescheduling appointments in hopes that we can do these things in a month. And Chicos -don't worry. I know your stores have been boarded up and closed, but I swear when we all emerge from our homes 20 lbs. heavier, those elastic waist clothes will totally be in vogue.
The Mayor of Las Vegas-has anyone had the fortune of watching Anderson Cooper interview Mayor Goodman on CNN on Wednesday? YOU MUST WATCH! She is insane. Very funny to watch. But very sad for the union workers in Vegas who disagree with her calling for casinos to reopen in this pandemic. She was completely unraveled......And FYI, the Governor totally disagrees with her. Thank God for that! Anderson Cooper was amazing.
Governor Cuomo-What is there to say? You should be President. Your daily conferences are the best. You instill calm, empathy, insight, and knowledge in the Northeast. We need you to run. We are lucky to have you as the voice of reason in this crazy world.
Ok-you all know what comes next. It's the only thing that gets me through the nights. What am I watching now you may ask? Here it is:
Belgravia-Epix. The story of secrets and scandals among the upper class of London during the 19th century. Juicy. If you liked Downton Abbey, you'll enjoy.
Unorthodox-Netflix. Hasidic Jewish woman living in Brooklyn runs away to Germany to escape her marriage. Very good.
Breeders-FX or Hulu. The paradoxical story of a couple who adore their young children, but often run out of patience with them. Clever and well done.
Fauda-Netflix. I don't watch it, but everyone I know does. And the third season is starting. Enjoy!
Better Things-FX. In my opinion (feel free to disagree), this is the BEST written show on tv. I love every second of every episode. As a mom of daughters, and also having an elderly mom, I relate
to so much of this. I command you to watch. And you can start with this season. You don't have to watch previous seasons if you don't want.
Schitt's Creek-POP TV or Hulu. I am so sad. The final season has ended. One of the funniest and most clever shows out there. Totally worth the time. You will not be sorry. Catherine O'Hara is the bomb.
Ms. America-Hulu. The story of the movement to ratify the ERA. Seen through the eyes of the feminists of the time and the conservative women's movement against them. Great cast. So far, it's very good.
I Know This Much Is True- Premieres May 10 on HBO. Based on the novel by Wally Lamb.
Defending Jacob-Apple Tv+. Teenager charged with first degree murder. Premieres tomorrow. Didn't get great reviews. Judge for yourself.
Bad Education-premieres on HBO this Saturday. Unpredictable and real life story about a superintendent of Roslyn School District. Starring Hugh Jackman and Allison Janney. GREAT REVIEWS. Get some popcorn and wine. Another Saturday night at home won't seem so bad!
To all of you out there-I pray for your health, safety, and mental well being. Until I need to rant again-
PEACE OUT-ONE B
