The Oscars 2020 -Fashion, Jewels, Final Thoughts

BEST DRESSED:
Penelope Cruz-For me, she was the most stunning woman on the red carpet. That high low black Chanel Couture dress with the pearl belt was BEYOND! Her hair and makeup were flawless. No one could come close to her perfection.

Margot Robbie-Another beautiful Chanel black dress. This was vintage 1994 and looked sensational. The embellished bodice was exquisite and so was her hair and makeup.

Charleze Theron-Again, I vote for the black dress! This couture Dior ball gown with the thigh high slit looked beautiful and so well tailored to her body. Her necklace from Tiffany was my favorite of the night (we'll get to that later), and the slicked back hair was just right for the look.

HONORABLE MENTION:
Renee Zelwegger-The fit of this white one - shouldered Armani Prive was sublime. I just wish she had added a pop of color to her cheeks and lips. Natural is one thing, but she looked svah.... too pale. And her hair needed help.

Cynthia Erivo-She looked great in the Versace jewel encrusted gown. And, accessorized with lots of Piaget diamonds (maybe a few too many rings and earrings!). Such an amazing singer and actress. Love her.

Regina King-Adorned in a powder pink Versace gown, she looked beautiful. The Harry Winston jewels didn't hurt the look either. And the fit of the gown was spectacular-don't waste a waist!

Rebel Wilson-Exuding old world glamor wearing a gold sequined Jason Wu gown and side parted hair, red lips, and a beautiful Pomellato necklace-Spot on!

FAVORITE JEWELS (MY FAVORITE PART)

CHARLEZE THERON-loved the 5 million dollar marquise necklace from Tiffany. I'm not usually a marquis fan but this did the trick. Gorgeous!

MINDY KALING-another beautiful necklace with marquis stones that was a take off on the one from Ocean's 8. This 124 Carat piece was made by Chopard and was the perfect accessory to her Dolce and Gabana yellow gown.

ZAZIE BEETZ-She wore TWO Bulgari necklaces featuring diamonds and emeralds totaling over 97 carats.  These were show stoppers. Who says less is more? This look was INCREDIBLE!

GRETA GERWIG-Did I say this was the best neck piece of the night? It just doesn't get any better than emeralds and diamonds. This Bulgari vintage "looking" piece was a stunner. Every girl needs this in her wardrobe, and it was majestically beautiful with her custom strapless, Dior haute couture gown.

JANELLE MONAE-Who could even notice this Forevermark necklace with that crazy silver hooded Ralph Lauren gown? The necklace was everything.....the gown not so much!

Olivia Coleman-simple but elegant emerald and diamond earrings. Loved them and would wear them with jeans.

SCARLETT JOHANSSON-Donning $2.1 million diamond earrings by Forevermark. These were amazing from every angle. Round and pear shaped diamonds were just exquisite.

DIDN'T LIKE THE LOOK- IT JUST DIDN'T COME TOGETHER:

SANDRA OH-Ellie Saab gown with overpowering sleeves and under wowing hair. Hated the look.

SAOIRSE RONAN-sustainable Gucci? Really? That peplum could have held her laptop! I just didn't get this look. The ugly earrings, the bumblebee brooch in her hair, and the bangs. Avert your eyes-too much.

LAURA DERN-Usually, I think she is one of the best dressed women in Hollywood. But this soft pink Armani Prive with the black crystal beads on the boobs-OY VAY. Terrible! I did not like the hair or the makeup either. Loved her speech though.

SELMA HAYAK-Wasn't a fan of the Gucci gown on her body type. The dress accentuated her bust too much. The Boucheron necklace in her hair was horrendous. And, I never think matching jewelry ensembles are a good idea. The earrings and bracelet that matched that headpiece were definite no nos.

Brie Larsen-Loved her hair and makeup, but I wasn't digging the dress. It seemed too matronly.

Rooney Mara-Her whole look was too gothic for me. She looks like she should be starring in a Twilight movie or living in a coffin. Scary!

FINAL THOUGHTS:

BRAD PITT-Need I say more? This man is GORGEOUS-STILL.

OPENING NUMBER BY JANELLE MONAE-Wow-she rocked the house. I don't know who she is but she was Fab!

STEVE MARTIN AND CHRIS ROCK-They were hysterical. Chris Rock CRUSHED IT! He should've hosted.

KRISTIN WIIG AND MAYA RUDOLPH-They were awesome. Funny, irreverent and exhibited great chemistry. Billie Eilish-shame on you.

JOAQUIN PHOENIX'S ACCEPTANCE SPEECH-Cra-cra! The guy is a lunatic; quickly unraveling like the Joker. I am not necessarily disagreeing with his views. But the inseminated cow topic was really weird for this show. He should have just gone with the quote from his brother, River. "Run to the rescue with love and peace will follow."

Finally, if you have not seen Renee Zellwegger in Judy-YOU MUST. IT IS AN AWARD WINNING PERFORMANCE. BREATHTAKING AND SAD AND EXTRAORDINARY.

If you have not seen The Two Popes-DO! Jonathan Pryce and Anthony Hopkins were superb. Loved this film.

Hair Love-this short animation is worth googling. Simply brilliant and adorable. Watch it now.

Parasite-I saw it. It is difficult to watch, but I NEED to watch it one more time. It is a brilliant social satire that needs to be seen. I loved Bong Joon-Ho's speeches at the Oscars and how he payed homage to Scorsese and Tarentino.

Happy Valentine's Day! Peace Out-ONE B
