LA LA NAH NAH HA HA OSCARS 2017

I know everyone is talking about the major mishap at the end of last night's Oscars. The truth is that anything can happen on live TV and the announcement of the wrong Best Movie was a mistake. Mistakes do happen. I thought the La La nominees, Warren Beatty, and Kimmel handled it with style and grace. ( FYI-Moonlight was the better movie.)
That being said-I thought Faye Dunaway's facelift and pulled eyes might have prevented her from reading the card properly! After all, she was the person who made the actual blunder. Why isn't anyone talking about her?   OK-let's move on to fashion mishaps.....

WORST DRESSED
Chrissy Teigen-in Zuhair Murad. Thought this was extremely unflattering. It was tight, her breasts looked too large, and I didn't love the belt. The back looked great. If only she had entered backwards.
Not one of her better looks. Buy this new mom a cup of coffee-she slept through the show.

Dakota Johnson-Hated this Gucci dress. Her hair and makeup were just horrible. She is someone who looks better less clothed.  Unwrap her! The necklace, however-I'll get to that later.

Janelle Monae- in Elie Saab. I felt like I was experiencing an epileptic seizure during the 4th of July.
This did not work for me.

Jessica Biel-in Kaufman Franco. There was too much happening on this body. Too much dress and too much necklace. Pick one and throw the other out.  I'll discuss the jewelry in a bit.

RUNNERS UP FOR WORST DRESSED
Ruth Negga-Valentino red dress. Too Victorian for me. Didn't love the crown either.
Isabelle Huppert-Armani Prive. She needed a tailor to take in this silhouette. Badly fitted.
Halle Berry-Versace. Her hairstyle distracted from the dress which was mediocre. But her face is
absolutely breathtaking.
Brie Larsen-Oscar De La Renta. I didn't like the hair with the velvet and ruffles. Just ok for me.
Felicity Jones-Dior. She looked as if she bought this costume at the Halloween store. Dance Ballerina Dance.
Scarlett Johannsson-Don't know who the designer was. The tattooed side boob display-oy. And the belt and her hair were too edgy for me. Did not like this overall look.
Pharrell's producing partner Mimi Valdes-what the hell died on her head?  Scary hair...

BEST DRESSED

Viola Davis-Red hot in Armani. Her hair, makeup, and dress were perfection. She never gets it wrong.
Taraji P. Henson-Smokin' in that Alberta Feretti Dress. The fit was spot on.
Nicole Kidman-Finally got it right again in Armani Prive. Her recent award dresses had not been great, but she looked exquisite last night.
Hailee Steinfeld-Spectacular in Ralph & Russo. And the fact that it wasn't lined gave us quite a show.
Emma Stone-golden in Givency Couture. Looked amazing-makeup, hair, dress: all good.

BEST JEWELRY (my favorite category)

Tarji P. Henson-Nirav Modi Diamond Necklace. Be still my heart-fabulous. The night's best.
Karlie Kloss-Nirav Modi 38 carat Diamond Choker. Stunning.
Jessica Biel-Tiffany's Whisper of the Rainforest Gold and Diamond Necklace. A great piece but
should've been worn on a very simple dress.
Dakota Johnson-Cartier Necklace. It was sensational but....not with that gown. She too, needed to keep the dress simple.
Alicia Vikander-Louis Vuitton Necklace. Perfect piece for the dress.
Charlize Theron-Chopard Diamond Earrings. So Big and So Pretty.
Nicole Kidman-Rubies aren't my thing, but Harry Winston can do no wrong. The earrings were lovely with the dress and her coloring.
Viola Davis-Yossi Harrari Diamond Earrings. The perfect accessory for her dress.
Lara Spencer-I loved these earrings! I suspect they were onyx, diamond, and tourmaline from Yurman but I can't be sure.

THE MEN
Justin Timberlake in Tom Ford Tuxedo and Lucas Hedges in Christian Dior were my top two men.
Ryan Gosling in his blue tipped ruffled shirt, and Gucci tux didn't do it for me. And Pharell in Chanel
looked as crazy as ever.
Finally, my favorite - Dwayne "the rock" Johnson in a navy velvet jacket. The only thing I can say is that I was greatly relieved to find out that his pants were actually black (matching the trim on the jacket) and NOT BROWN. I was very worried that he could've been wearing brown pants. Luckily, it was just the tint on my tv!

Governance Instability and Other Musings

POLITICS

President Obama's slogan was "Yes WE Can".  President Trump's slogan is "Yes I Can"

If I could present a few presents to President Trump, they would be the following:
Permanent Mittens-He would never be able to tweet again!

Red, White, and Blue duct tape for his mouth-he would never be able to speak again!

Roget's Thesaurus-If we can't get him to use the duct tape, he needs a vocabulary lesson. If I hear
the words tremendous, great, amazing, very, many and total disaster one more time.....

President Trumps selections for staff and Cabinet-I could go on ad infinitum about Spicer, Flynn, Sessions, but I won't.  Let's just discuss Andrew Puzder who is possibly the next Labor Secretary. As
someone who will represent the  working men and women of this country, I find it reprehensible that he hired a housekeeper and did not pay the appropriate taxes. (And by the way, in Trump's world this undocumented housekeeper should not be allowed in our country.) On top of this revelation, we find out that Puzder's former wife appeared (incognito) on Oprah years ago accusing him of Domestic Violence. Even the Republicans have problems confirming this man. Just Say No.

Ok - enough ranting. Now for the fun stuff.

TELEVISION

For those of you looking for some television shows, here we go.

Imposters-On Bravo. About a con artist who is beautiful and dangerous.  Fun!

The Young Pope- On HBO. Ten part series just finished. Not sure the series is great, but Jude Law and Diane Keaton are. Worth a binge watch.

Victoria-on PBS. Drama about the young Queen and her passionate courtship with Prince Albert.
If you like Downton Abbey, you will also like this. Check out the size of her waist.

Suits-on USA. The remaining six episodes of season 6 began on Jan. 25. A legal drama about a firm with infinite issues including a lawyer who never passed the bar and practices law! Not great but good enough! And Prince Harry's girlfriend is one of the stars.

The Grammys-Channel 2 On Demand. Although this was last Sunday, I think it's worth viewing.
I thought it was a fabulous show. My observations:
Ed Sheeran-I love the Shape of You!  This guy is the real deal.
Lady Gaga and Metallica-not sure why they performed but she rocked it. Too bad his mike failed...or not.
Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood-great duet called The Fighter. Her dress was distracting-kept looking to see if she had underwear on-Ha Ha. He is toooo cute. I fell.
Adele-come on-that opening was beyond. Her voice is crazy good. The Most beautiful face and skin..
Beyoncé-the number was a spectacle. I didn't get it. But everyone loves Queen B, so who am I to argue?  The tilting chair-scary for the twins!
The Weekend-so smooth-sounds a lot like Michael Jackson. I feel it coming, babe.
JLo-she didn't sing, but damn, she looks good. Not like JLo, but her new face is nice too.

For the record, I bought all of the above songs on ITunes. I loved all the music. And best quote goes to Twenty One Pilots:
"Anyone from Anywhere can do Anything. And That is That."
