No's, Nose, Knows

Haven't written in awhile, so this is a conglomeration of "stuff" I have been wanting to comment about.

NO'S
Meta@worldpeace is an absolute horror. For those of you who have no idea whom I am referring to, Ron Artest (aka meta@worldpeace) is a Los Angeles Laker Forward. He has a reputation for being a thug which stems from a 2004 attack on a fan during a Pacers/Pistons game. The other night during a Lakers/Thunders game Artest intentionally(in my opinion and many others) elbowed James Harden and gave him a minor concussion. Harden is still recovering and ineligible to play at this time.
In the meantime, Artest claims the elbow was accidental and has delivered an apology. Noone is buying that crock and he has been punished with a seven game suspenison and will miss the season finale along with six postgames. Is this punishment enough? NO-this guy should be fired, fined, and sent packin'....

NOSE
I read and article the other day questioning the safety of a neti pot. Many people during allergy season or with sinus issues use this little device. It is a small vessel that looks like a tea pot and is used to flush out clogged nasal passages. Many people swear that this is an amazing cure. But, take note-Two people died from infections of Naegleria fowleri. This is a rare "brain-eating amoeba" that had infected the tap water used in the netipot!
In order to prevent this bacteria, you can use distilled, sterilized or boiled water. And remember gto rinse the device after each use with distilled, sterilized, or boiled water. FYI-this deadly bacteria is usually found in warm freshwater.

KNOWS
President Obama has a battle on his hands. I think he has been an amazing president. He revived the auto industry, the government has been paid back all of the bailout money plus interest  by the financial institutions, he has found and killed deadly terrorists including the "big guy" Osama Bin Laden, he reduced employee and self employed social security payroll tax, and the economy and jobs are slowly coming back.
The people who are going to reelect him are women, students, middle class, and immigrants. The problem is that many of these groups don't register to vote. So I am specifically appealing to all women out there. Regardless of your political beliefs-PLEASE make sure you are registered to vote and then, actually go to the polls and VOTE! It is your civic duty.

Messes and Successes

MESSES
   On the tube:

Sara Palin cohosting on the Today Show-what were they thinking? Obviously-ratings.

Reborn Dolls and their Owners on the Today Show-what were they thinking? Obviously-ratings.

    Food:
Smashburger-East Hanover. Fries not well done/very salty. onion rings fair. burgers fair. chili salty.
                      Do not recommend.

   On the big screen:
Deep Blue Sea-directed by Terrence Davies. I actually liked it alot, but was outnumbered by three
family members that really didn't like it.

    News:
Tornadoes in Texas-did you see the sixteen wheelers flying through the air? Very Scary.

Oikos University-tragic story of expelled student that calculated a cold blooded massacre for revenge.

Federal Budget Adopted by Republicans-cuts to Education, College Scholarships, Medical Research,
                                                                  Medicare, National Parks, etc.

   Technology:
Games you play on your IPHONE: angry birds, fruit ninja, bejewelers.  READ A BOOK!

SUCCESSES
           On the tube:
Masterpiece Theatre-Charles Dickens "Great Expectations" part I. Really Excellent! This Sunday is
                                  two, the conclusion.

           Food:
Osteria Giatto-Very good Italian Food in Montclair. However, the wait time (with a reservation) is
unacceptable. They need to honor the reservation.

           On the big screen:
Detachment-see this at home on demand. Adrien Brody stars in a film that illustrates the sad state of our
                    society and our American Education.

Jeff who lives at home-Jason Segal stars in this serious/sometimes funny film and does a fabulous job.

Friends With Kids-Although I thought this was just fair, I was outnumbered by three family members
who liked it alot. Jennifer Westfeldt wrote this (and Kissing Jessica Stein)-the
                               writing was good.

             News:
American Auto Industry-showing profits. Chrysler sales up by 34%. GM and Toyota also showing
double digit gains. Thanks President Obama!

Obama's Speech on Tuesday-blasting the Republicans: "The house budget and the philosophy it
represents is antithetical to our entire history as a land of opportunity
and upward mobility for everyone who's willing to work for it."

Reborn Dolls

Yesterday morning there was a very disturbing story on the news. There was a segment about "Reborn Dolls". These dolls look absolutely like a real infant-it is actually eerie how authentic they are. Apparently, many women collect these dolls. I didn't say little girls collect these dolls-I reiterate WOMEN collect them all across the country and in many other countries. Ok, you say, they collect them as a so called "hobby"- what is so wrong with that? People collect all types of things, right? WELL, these crazy collectors put their dolls in strollers, they take them shopping, they put them in car seats, they burp them, swaddle them,  and even give them a pacifier. Are you starting to get as freaked out as I am?
What was equally disturbing is the interview that coincided with this story. The journalists interviewed two women. One of the woman owned 28 "reborn dolls" and one woman owned 10. One had a complete nursery for their dolls-changing tables, cribs, etc. And yet, the  interviewers did not suggest these women were mentally unstable. In fact, they didn't even suggest that this was even a little "weird"! They treated them normally, as if this was just another person with an interest or hobby, like collecting stamps. I thought both of these women were certifiably insane-completely mad! And I thought the interviewer was just as crazy. Don't take my word for it-have a look for yourselves.
